St. Vital has always been home for my family and me. I take pride in being Red River Métis, with our roots in this community stretching back to the early 1800s. Growing up in St. Vital shaped my values of hard work, community service, and giving back to the neighbourhood that has supported my family for generations.
Today, my partner and I are raising our school-aged daughter in St. Vital, and like many families in Bonivista, Royalwood, and Sage Creek, we care deeply about safe neighbourhoods, strong schools, accessible recreation, responsible growth, and creating opportunities for the next generation to thrive.
My professional journey has focused on strengthening communities. As an entrepreneur, I specialize in Red River Métis history and culture, developing educational programming, and helping people better understand Manitoba's unique heritage and the narratives that have shaped our province. I prioritize stewardship by engaging students in outdoor activities that connect them with each other and our environment. As a certified 3D archery coach, I’ve dedicated much of my career to youth development through sport and recreation. I have collaborated with rural and remote communities to enhance sports and recreation programs that promote healthy, active lifestyles, build community connections, and create positive pathways for youth. Through this work, I have delivered programs across seventeen communities aimed at reducing at-risk youth behaviours by providing mentorship, leadership opportunities, and meaningful activities that empower young people to succeed.
My approach to community safety is rooted in prevention, partnership, and opportunity. I believe that safer communities are built by investing in people, supporting families, and strengthening the organizations that deliver essential services. I'm an advocate for harm reduction and community-based crime prevention, ensuring that agencies working on the front lines receive the support, partnerships, and resources necessary to achieve their goals. Furthermore, I believe that a healthy community is one where everyone has access to basic resources needed for thriving. Access to fresh, locally grown produce should not depend on homeownership or yard size. Community gardens, urban agriculture, and shared growing spaces are vital to improving food security, fostering connections among neighbours, and supporting healthy lifestyles while creating resilient communities. I advocate for public spaces that serve everyone and for making food production an opportunity available to all residents, irrespective of their circumstances.
Community organizations are some of our greatest assets. They address various needs such as supporting youth, promoting health and wellness, offering cultural programming, aiding vulnerable residents, and creating connection opportunities. These organizations understand their communities intimately as they are present every day.
As a candidate for St. Vital City Councillor in the upcoming Winnipeg Civic Elections, I am committed to working alongside these organizations to remove barriers, enhance collaboration, and create conditions for their essential work to thrive. Community leadership has always been important to me. I serve on the executive of a Red River Métis Local, which is the grassroots level of governance within the Manitoba Métis Federation, the national government for the Red River Métis. This role reinforces my belief that effective local governance starts with listening, respecting diverse perspectives, and collaborating to find practical solutions. I am running for this position because I believe our community deserves a representative who is accessible, engaged, and devoted to building relationships across all aspects of our neighbourhood. By engaging with residents, businesses, community organizations, Indigenous communities, and other levels of government, I believe that the best decisions emerge from listening first and acting with integrity.
St. Vital has been my family’s home for generations, and I want to ensure it remains a safe, welcoming, and vibrant community where families, seniors, businesses, and young people can continue to build their futures.
